Questions.
If yours is not here, ask it on a call. We would rather answer it than have you guess.
Scope and price
What does it cost?
It depends on how many pages, whether you need brand work, and whether anything has to connect to a system you already run. We will not quote a number before we know that. What you get instead is a fixed scope and a fixed price in writing before anything starts, so the figure does not move once we are underway. If the job turns out smaller than you expected, we will tell you.
Can you work with our existing branding?
Yes. If you have a brand you like, we build to it. If you do not, we can sort that out as part of the job rather than sending you to a separate agency first and coordinating between the two.
Do you do content and copywriting?
We structure the content and write the page-level copy — headings, calls to action, the words that decide whether someone enquires. We do not staff an ongoing content desk, so if you want articles published every week, that is better handled by someone whose whole job it is.
Search and traffic
Do you do SEO?
We do the technical half, and we should be clear about where that stops. We build the foundations into the site: titles and meta, schema, a clean sitemap, canonicals and redirects, page speed, and pages served as real HTML so crawlers and AI assistants can actually read them. What we do not do is the ongoing work — keyword research, content calendars, link building, local campaigns, tracking rankings month to month. That is a specialism and you should hire someone whose whole job it is. What you get from us is a site that does not fight them when they arrive.
Will we lose our Google rankings in a redesign?
Not if it is done properly. Every old URL gets a permanent redirect to its new equivalent, the structure that was earning traffic is preserved, and the sitemap is resubmitted. In our experience rankings wobble for a couple of weeks and settle, though nobody controls Google and we will not pretend otherwise. The redesigns that lose traffic are the ones where old URLs were simply abandoned.
What do you mean by "found by AI assistants"?
Most sites built today are rendered by JavaScript in the visitor's browser. Search engines cope with that; the AI assistants people increasingly ask for recommendations largely do not — they read the raw page and find it empty. We build so the finished page exists as real HTML, which means there is something there for them to read. Whether they then cite you is up to them.
Do you handle Google Business Profile and local listings?
We will set the profile up once and get the categories, service areas and links right, because for "who does this near me" questions it often matters more than the website. Ongoing posting, review management and local campaigns are a marketing job, not ours.
After launch
Who owns the site when it is finished?
You do. The domain, the hosting account and the code are in your name from the start, so you are never renting your own website back from us. If you want to take it in-house or hand it to somebody else later, there is nothing to untangle first.
Can we edit it ourselves?
Yes, for the things that change — listings, articles, team members, the copy on a page. Layout and structural changes are usually better done by us, and we would rather you ask than fight a page builder at eleven at night.
Do you offer ongoing support?
If you want it. Some clients keep us on a small monthly arrangement for changes and updates; others take the handover and never call again. Both are fine, and neither is a condition of the build.
